Travel and Travel Elite Programs
Travel Program
Commissioner: Dave Johnson
Assistant Commissioner: Mark Aloi
Email: travel@chilisoccer.org
Ages: U8 – U19
Purpose
The CSA Travel program is designed for players who are committed to soccer and are looking for enhanced training opportunities. Players within the travel program will have the opportunity to train and participate in competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the year. This is a competitive program and players must try out and be selected for one of our travel teams to participate. Tryouts are typically in July and specific dates will be posted to our website once they become available.
Costs: $445
The registration fee for this program covers the cost of:
- RDYSL travel league registration and referee fees
- Entry into the Chili Soccer Invitational Tournament
- Outdoor team training sessions (May – September)
- 1 indoor team training session per week through (November – April); includes advanced technical skills training with CSA-approved skills coaches.
- CSA practice jersey
- Insurance
Additional costs not covered by registration:
- CSA uniform kits (available through Winner Sportswear)
- Additional league and tournament registration fees*
- Equipment (cleats, shin guards, balls, etc.)
* Individual teams may decide to participate in leagues and tournaments beyond those covered by the club registration fee. However, many of our teams participate in fundraising opportunities to raise money to cover these costs. Please contact the coaching staff for your respective team for more information.
Travel Registration
Players interested in playing in the CSA Travel program must register for tryouts through the travel registration portal. There is a $15 tryout registration fee that covers the price of insurance for the player in case of injury. Tryouts will occur during the summer, typically in July. Dates will be posted on the CSA website once they have been finalized. Players who are accepted onto a team will receive an offer from the team’s coaching staff. Once that offer is accepted, they will receive an email from the club’s registrar containing a link to complete the player’s registration. The travel registration fee may be paid in full at the time of registration. Alternatively, the registrant may choose one of the available payment plans. Please note that players whose registration is not paid for in full by January 15th will not receive a player pass, making them ineligible to compete with their team until the balance has been paid.

CSA Travel Elite team requirements
Teams who wish to apply for elite status within the club must meet or exceed the following requirements:
- The head coach must have USSF National D License (or higher). Assistant coaches must have completed the USSF Grassroots course that covers the age group for their team (e.g., 9v9). It is encouraged that all coaches complete the USSF National D License course.
- The team must meet one of the following criteria:
- Placed first or second in their age group in RDYSL at the division 1 level.
- Placed first or second in the age group above in RDYSL at the division 1 or 2 level.
- The team must have a demonstrated record of success in competitive tournaments.
- The team must have the support of at least 50% of their team parents for moving to elite due to the increased cost of registration and level of commitment.
All CSA Travel Elite teams will undergo an annual evaluation to determine if their elite status is still warranted.
Applications for teams applying for elite status must be submitted to the CSA Travel Director no later than March 1st. Applications will be reviewed by the board and the applicants notified of the board’s decision no later than June 1st. Your application must include evidence that the team meets or exceeds the requirements listed above. Part of the review process will include observations of the coaching staff and team during training sessions and games, and an interview of the coaching staff by a CSA board-appointed committee.
